Surface Quality
The playing surface is the foundation of a great padel court. High-quality artificial turf should be even, well-maintained, and free of worn patches or bumps that could cause unpredictable bounces. Check the turf before you play — a good court will feel consistent underfoot and provide reliable traction.
Indoor courts often use a different surface material that is equally important to inspect. Look for surfaces that are not too slippery or too abrasive.
Glass Panel Condition
The glass walls are a defining feature of padel. Quality courts use tempered safety glass that is thick, clear, and properly sealed at the joints. Scratched or dirty glass not only looks bad — it affects ball visibility and your ability to read the bounce off the wall accurately.
Lighting
Good lighting is essential for both indoor and evening outdoor play. Shadows and dark spots on the court create visibility problems and increase the risk of injury. Well-lit courts use even LED lighting positioned to minimise glare while fully illuminating the playing area.

Net and Posts
A sagging or uneven net significantly affects the game. The net should be taut, correctly tensioned, and set at the proper height — 88 centimetres at the centre and 92 centimetres at the sides. Well-maintained posts are stable and free of rust or visible wear.
Facilities and Atmosphere
Beyond the court itself, look at the overall facility. Are the changing rooms clean? Is there parking and easy access? Does the club have a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff? The best padel experiences combine excellent courts with a community that makes you want to come back.
